Rubber Dam technology has revolutionized the water resource sector globally by virtue of its unique features of inflation & deflation for ponding water & enhance water head as per requirement. It's cost effective, easy to install & maintain in comparison to conventional steel gates. Most important part is its operational system which is controlled by air only whereas conventional gates required sophisticated arrangements for its operation and sometimes get jammed during high flood due to high pressure of water creating panic situation in emergency. All above reasons led to increase in acceptability of Rubber Dams

Water is a critical resource and needs to be cared for in every possible manner. Rubber dams are unobtrusive and ecofriendly, easy to install and safe and can be effective as diversion structures for low head hydropower applications. By using this technology I feel the overall development and implementation phase of hydropower projects can be substantially optimised and can also yield cost benefits. I therefore recommend incorporating rubber dam technology in water infrastructure projects, including hydropower.
